I met Dr. Cogorno some time ago when a friend of mine was having a baby, and she was having difficulty with her delivery. Dr. Cogorno is a most pleasant gentleman, and a very knowledgeable obstetrics and gynecology doctor with a great bedside manner. I have never once felt like he was in a rush to finish up with any of my friends or family who have been his patient.

And it is obvious to me whenever I see Dr. Cogorno that he is a very caring doctor, and person in general. I don't really know anyone else that I would be comfortable recommending, especially if you are looking for an obstetrician who will deliver your baby as naturally as possible.

Dr. Cogorno believes in 'home birthing', but in this country that is not viewed as favorable. People here can't understand why any woman would want to birth her baby 'naturally', let alone do it at home.

In fact, while speaking with Dr. Cogorno recently I learned that most women here PREFER to have a C-Section! But Dr. Cogorno is working hard to change that mindset.

He told me that besides himself there are two other obstetricians and a pediatrician who will go to your home to deliver your baby there. He said they rent equipment in case an emergency arises. He also said there are only a few women who want to do this.

I had written here about the new 'birthing center' Dr. Cogorno was working on, but he just told me that was no longer a viable idea. He did say though that the new wing being added to the hospital (El Valle) is for women and children, and even though the hospital administration doesn't understand the 'birthing room' concept that they are putting in a birthing tub for those who would like a water birth.
