Y CIRUGÍA TRAUMATOLOGÍA (Orthopedics and Orthopedic Trauma Surgery) LOCATED IN: ![]() Av. Rafael Tovar, Via el Valle del Espiritu Santo Sector Conuco Largo Office No. 13 Tel: 0295-267-0935 ext:313 or Direct: 0295-287-0171 Fax: 0295-287-0687 (and Dr. Bonmatí doesn't speak English, so you will need a translator...I think he understands some though.) In this office
there are two Orthopedic doctors. I have only been seen by Dr Bonmatí,
but I would have to say that he is the best. I've worked with a lot of
doctors from a lot of disciplines, and in my book this one is tops. He
is very knowledgeable, has a great bedside manner, AND is of the
conservative mind when it comes to treatment. I went to see him for
severe knee pain, and before I got in to see him I ended up with a
broken rib.
In regards to my knee problem
instead of recommending a joint replacement, he said that
in 95% of cases it is not necessary. He sent me to physical therapy to
build up my thigh muscles, which he said were weak and causing part of
my problem. Then he injected my knee with
something that is suppose to be there naturally, hyaluronic acid. My
knee has been in great shape ever since, which makes life more
enjoyable.
And he treated my broken rib with a new treatment. He injected the area over the break with a couple different medications, and within minutes the pain was gone. I could tell I still had to be careful, but it was so much better in so little time compared to the old time treatment of wearing a 'rib belt'. And when I went in with a rib belt on he told me not to wear it as it actually did more harm than good. Medicine has come a long way since I went to school. 24, Nov, 2009 update: Now, I'll tell you how he treated my ankle pain last Tuesday. I thought maybe my ankle joint was worn out, but when I got in to see him he examined my foot and ankle, twisted it a certain way, rubbed a couple of places with his thumb, which caused a lot of pain, and told me I have a chronic problem. He told me I have a 'tunnel' problem in my foot, pointed out the large amount of inflammation, got out the syringe and filled it with a mixture of something, then injected the area that's causing me the problem. He gave me a prescription for something to help with the pain and inflammation, and another for a high dose of Vit B-6. And I'm applying moist heat, which we all know is contradictory for swelling, but helps me more than cold. Now, I just need new shoes...smile. |
Dr.
Fernando Bonmatí F. General Orthopedics, Orthopedic Trauma Surgery, and Specializes in Foot Surgery Office hours: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am-1pm and 4pm-7pm ALL CONSULTS ARE FIRST COME - FIRST SERVED (word of advice: arrive 2 hours before office opens to get on list as he only sees 15 patients a session) This is my ortho doc ![]() Dr. Bonmatí busy at work ![]() This is the office receptionist The
injection really helped to take the edge off the pain and allow it to
start healing. And the moist heat has done wonders to keep the process
going.
Now, since I didn't know much about 'tunnel' problems I assumed it was like a 'carpal tunnel' problem of the hand. I searched it up on-line, and sure enough I found what I was looking for, tarsal tunnel sydrome info. Also this one is very good too. more tarsal tunnel info There are more sites, but these two are the first ones I came to...search it up for yourself if you're having this type of problem, and see what works best for you. |
